By now, you may have forgotten about or given up on your New Year’s Resolutions. Rather than let that become ANOTHER thing that leaves you tossing and turning tonight, how about a less stressful approach?
My research indicates that just under 10% of the people who make New Year’s Resolutions actually follow up with discipline and stay focused on them long enough to fulfill them. You heard me right, less than 10%. Does that number shock you? It certainly doesn’t shock me. Many of us are living lives where we work hard, but we don’t work intelligently, with intent or purpose to do things the very best way we can. We just go through the motions and figure that if I keep working hard, if I keep doing the same things day after day, it will turn out fine.
The good news is that this DOES work reasonably well for many of us. Does it work well enough for you? Think about that for a minute. Are you OK with just showing up and going through the motions, or would you like to make 2015 the year that you actually make an effort to begin doing things with more intent and purpose? Would you like to make 2015 the year where you began to deliver ambitious results?
Most of the people who cave on their January 1 resolutions do it because they give up, when the going gets tough. Or, perhaps, they never leveraged writing down the resolutions in the form of SMART goals. Either way, by February 15, the goals are blown for about 60% of us.
How about this? How about rebooting the year, before its too late? Could you start over, and have, as my sons used to say, “A Do-Over?” It’s only 46 days into a 365 day year, and you still have 87.39% of the year left to make this your best year yet. If you reboot, you can rededicate yourself to those goals, and become a part of the 80% who can get their goals accomplished by writing them down, and making them measurable, and staying focused on delivering results. Doesn’t sound to me like it’s too late. What do you think?
If I can help you get your goals written down, and turned into SMART goals that get achieved nearly 80% of the time, don’t hesitate to reach out to me, I’d be delighted to help you reboot your 2015 and make it a fantastic year for you personally and professionally!
